Our employees and contractors achieved an outstanding safety performance during the year, with the number of lost time injuries (LTIs) per million hours worked across the entire company falling to a record low of 1.8 for the twelve months to June 2003.
That is a great achievement by our people. However, while being proud of our achievement, we continue to strive for our goal of Zero Harm.
• We improved our record low injury performance.
• We recorded 36% fewer LTIs than last year.
• We achieved a record low of 1.8 LTIs per million hours worked.
• The total number of LTIs for the year was 54.

• We achieved 24% fewer medical treatment injuries (MTIs).
• Medical treatment injury frequency rate (MTIFR) for employees was 9.1 for the year.

Importantly, none of our people have been fatally injured at work for over three years. While this is heartening, we must not become complacent.
• 88% of our people are currently involved in conducting monthly safety audits.
• Many teams have every person involved in conducting audits every month.
• Achieving a near miss to injury reporting ratio of 6 to 1.

The capture of key information through safety audits and the reporting of near misses is enabling us to improve our safety performance even further. The continued involvement of every employee in safety audits and in reporting near-misses is essential if we are to achieve our goal of Zero Harm.
