Our HSEC Management Standards, which were introduced in 1999, were developed to ensure consistent interpretation and implementation of the HSEC Policy. These standards form the basis for the development and application of HSEC management systems at all levels of the Company.
The Standards cover all operational aspects and activities that have the potential to impact, positively or negatively on the health and safety of people, the environment and the community.
The objectives of the Standards are to:
The Standards apply to all BlueScope Steel sites and operations throughout the world and also apply to major activities by contractors on our sites and under our management.
Where we have no operational responsibility but do have an equity stake or where significant BlueScope Steel assets are involved, the Standards are made available to the operator so that comparable HSEC Standards can be applied.
Each HSEC Management Standard includes a set of clear performance requirements. Performance to the Standards will be reviewed annually.
