Performing as a responsible company
This is the first Health, Safety, Environment and Community Report we have produced as BHP Steel Limited.
This Report includes information about our performance as a socially responsible company, outlines our record in the areas of health, safety and environment for 2000/01 and presents comparisons with previous years. As such, it provides us with a benchmark as we go forward as BHP Steel Limited.
BHP Steel has revised its Health, Safety, Environment and Community (HSEC) Policy to produce a clear articulation of our intent in line with our new company charter, Our Bond.
A series of case studies in the Report details the commitment of the people of BHP Steel to improving our HSEC performance.
The road ahead will undoubtedly present many challenges as we strive to exceed our HSEC targets while establishing ourselves as an independent listed company. Given the calibre of our people, we are confident that we can meet those challenges as we build an exciting future for BHP Steel.
