Note Regarding Annual ReportShareholders please note that you have not been sent a copy of the Annual Report for the 2001/2002 financial year. BHP Steel operated as a division of BHP Billiton Limited for the entire 2001/2002 financial year. In the course of the separation of BHP Steel from BHP Billiton, the assets and liabilities of the business were significantly restructured. The new BHP Steel group is now very different from the BHP Steel group as it was in the 2001/2002 financial year. For this reason, the Company sought and was granted relief by the Australian Securities and Investment Commission from the requirement to send the Annual Report for the 2001/2002 financial year to you.
BHP Steel Directors believe that, for the 2001/2002 financial year, the performance against the pro forma forecast, which was included in the Scheme Booklet, is more relevant to shareholders. This performance, together with some comments on current trading and future outlook, will be discussed in the Chairman’s address and the CEO’s presentation at the AGM.
However, you may view the Annual Report on the Company’s website at http://www.bluescopesteel.com/ from 31 October 2002. Alternatively, you can obtain a copy of the Annual Report from 31 October 2002 by contacting the Company’s Share Registry on 1300 855 998.
BHP Steel Directors and the management of the Company look forward to seeing as many shareholders as possible on this day, and invite you to join us for light refreshments at the conclusion of the meeting.
Finally, if you have multiple holdings in BHP Steel and you would like to consolidate them, please contact the Share Registry on the telephone number quoted above. The share registry will advise you how to consolidate your holdings.
