Our global network of Export and Sales offices is the linchpin that enables us to deliver inspired steel solutions to our worldwide customers.
BlueScope Steel exports over A$1 billion of steel annually from Australia to the rest of the world. We also export steel from our New Zealand and Asian operations, as well as selling directly into those domestic markets. Our exports take the form of both finished and semi-finished steel products, including feedstock for our own value-adding operations and those of other steelmakers.
Unlike some steel companies that rely on third party traders to sell their steel, we place great value on having our own worldwide network of export sales offices. These offices are found in:

Being on-the-ground in these countries means we can provide superior technical and after-sales service. We can also tailor products to suit local applications and climates.
Our global Export and Sales offices also provide a service for our largest domestic customer, OneSteel Limited, by marketing that company’s products overseas. In addition, they conduct countertrading of minerals on behalf of BHP Billiton.
In each office, we employ up to 10 people (an average of four) who are responsible for the before and after-sales service to customers in their region. Our employees are generally locals, so they are attuned to local market conditions and cultures.
The global offices are supported by export sales staff at Port Kembla, in Australia. Our head office team provides support functions such as order tracking and administration, organisation of shipping, credit management, invoicing, and revenue collection.
